SYNOPSIS

Kiran Ahluwalia, a Juno-award winning ghazal singer, lives, loves and rehearses with her husband-jazz guitarist, Rez Abbasi, in their Upper East Side apartment. Kiran and filmmaker Punam Kumar Gill were part of an exciting Twitter chatt on March 27th, discussing their respective artforms and the Indian culture.

Her designs have been featured in Vogue, Elle, O Magazine, and worn by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Sophia Vergara and Anne Hathaway. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Amrita came up through the ranks at fashion houses like Oscar de la Renta and Cartier. (please be patient as the video loads)

Just released - here is a really fun short film for which I served as Associate Producer. The best part? I got to work with 2 tremendously talented and savvy female directors - Dominique Keller and Smita Acharyya. The worst part? The paperwork!

Filmmaking is equal parts creativity and business - there is a great deal of dotting i's and crossing t's. The short film is binders full of contracts, releases, script revisions, funding applications, expense forms.

It is so satisfying for me to see all the work jump off the page and out of the binder into this short film with great performances.

Called "The 5Q Interview", the video is more of a journey into chef Vikram Vij's philosophical bearings than a traditional interview about food and wine. With references to Mahatma Gandhi, cultural identity, sexual orientation and atheism, the portrait captures the chef's essence and life outlook in under 10 minutes and in the confines of 5 questions.

Kids who are a handful are also a heartful.

Ollie's one of those kids. Ever reaching for more....icing. I was so inspired by little Ollie that I rushed home from his birthday party and made this little video to try to capture him. When I shared the video with Vicki and Sylvain, Ollie's parents, Sylvain asked, "The song.....where did you get it? It basically says: 'Olivier you are getting on my nerves...Olivier ok that's enough' which is what I want to tell him most days." Yep, never a dull day with this kid. Ollie inspires me. So do his parents' patience.
